Baby #2 -- 21 Weeks

How far along: 21 Weeks on Wednesday the 26th!
Gender: Boy
Total weight gain/loss: I don't even want to talk about this. :-(
Maternity clothes: Absolutely.
Stretch marks: None so far.
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: On
Sleep: So-so. Having a two and a half year old that gets up at least once a night is just retraining me for a new born...right...??
Have you started to show yet: Yes, I definitely have a belly. I think most of it is baby.
Movement: Yes, I'm definitely feeling more and more movement. I've felt one or two solid, strong kicks, but the rest are "flutters" or more like popcorn popping. They're comforting though!
Best moment this week: Today visiting my cousin Bud, his girlfriend and her family in Beaufort.
Worst moment this week: Feeling utterly overwhelmed. I swear things just like to pile up whether they're "good" or "bad" things. In defense/explanation of this statement, the majority of things are good, there are just so many new things that I can't even!
Happy or Moody most of the time: I've been easily aggravated. I need to get my preggo booty back into the gym.
Food cravings: Nothing really lately.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Still some pretty intense acid reflux/heartburn in the evening and after certain foods (tomato based stuff, etc.)
Miss anything: A good, ice cold wheat beer since the weather has been warming back up..
Weekly Wisdom: STAY ACTIVE...more like GET BACK to being active! These love handles have got to go!<SAME three updates in a row!
Looking forward to: Getting some answers/clearing some things up!

Baby #2 Update - 19 Weeks

Gender Reveal

Since we made it past the first trimester mark, I've wanted to do a gender reveal. We found out what baby #1 was in the ultrasound room, but with this one, I was okay with it being a surprise reveal. :-D I was set on a "What will baby bee" theme, and I think it turned out perfectly! We were so shocked when we cut the cake! Enjoy the photos and video below and the baby #2 update and chalkboard.

Baby #2 Update

How far along: 19 Weeks on Wednesday!
Gender prediction: I was 100% sure that this one was a girl...
Total weight gain/loss: +10 lbs...holding steady from last month. Fingers crossed I can keep it here.
Maternity clothes: In full swing. I won't wear anything else.
Stretch marks: Nope.
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: On
Sleep: Lochlan is still getting up at least once a night and I'm having to pee already!
Have you started to show yet: Yes. I think it looks like a baby bump, but sometimes I think I'm just being polite to myself.
Movement: At my OB appointment on Tuesday, I was diagnosed with an anterior, low lying placenta, so I haven't really felt anything consistent yet. I have felt a bit of the "butterflies" lately, but it's always so brief that I second guess it.
Best moment this week: Our gender reveal with all of our amazing friends and mom visiting.
Worst moment this week: Being told I have a low lying placenta and being an idiot and googling it. I go back in 4 weeks for a follow up ultrasound to make sure it's moving up.
Happy or Moody most of the time: I've been easily aggravated. Hopefully I just need a few days of true relaxing and I'll be feeling better. I also need to get back into the habit of being more actie.
Food cravings: Nothing really lately.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I have some wicked acid reflux/heartburn in the evening.
Miss anything: Wine.
Weekly Wisdom: STAY ACTIVE...more like GET BACK to being active! These love handles have got to go!<SAME!
Looking forward to: Feeling consistent movement.

SPRING BREAK! And Bug Update

break /brākverb a pause in work or during an activity or event.

"I need a break from mental activity"

synonyms:rest, respite, recess
I think I speak for everyone within my district when I say we were dying for a break. In the past seven years, I cannot think of a time when our spring break was so late in April. By the end of March teachers, admin, and students alike were sick of one another and ready for some space. The weather started warming up mid to late March, and it was torturous to sit inside for 8-10 hours a day while the sun was shining and not a cloud was in the sky! Unfortunately, there is truth to good old Benjamin Franklin's quote, "...there will be sleeping enough in the grave..." because I feel like we have been going, going, going this whole break!

Since we sold our house (surprise!), my mom came down on Thursday before break to help us pack and to watch Lochlan while we were chaperoning prom. Spoiler alert: we didn't even get to pack yet because our house has yet to be appraised so we're just still "under contract." 😐 I don't want to pack up my entire house to just be told, "no go on the appraisal folks," so we spent a lot of our time doing some other things around the house. It really has felt like we haven't stopped at all until yesterday.

The week of spring break (starting last Friday at midnight) has looked like this:
Saturday, we sold my X5.
Sunday, we made the trek to Atlanta to buy a Q7. (This momma is one happy lady to have a vehicle with a third row! *woot! woot!*)
Monday, we made the drive to transfer the X5 and had lunch while Mom watched bug.
Tuesday, we had our anatomy scan at 18 weeks 6 days and went to the aquarium in downtown Charleston.
Wednesday, we threw a gender reveal party and found out baby #2's parts with all of our wonderful friends.
Thursday, bug had a follow up endocrinology appointment in Charleston and Mom left.
Friday, WE DID NOTHING!
Saturday, we attempted to go ice skating at the Ice Palace and dyed Easter eggs.
Tomorrow, WE WILL DO NOTHING! (Maybe a movie or something in the afternoon, but our boy is beat and cranky!)

Things have been hectic, but what I learned (really, what I was reminded of) this week was:
1. I have a little boy who is one hell of a trooper when he is out of his element (he was awesome while we were driving all over Atlanta),
2. it is AMAZING to have your parents around to help out when you need them, and
3. I seriously have the BEST friends!

Here are some pictures from our Spring Break:
He LOVED the River Otters at the Aquarium
And the snakes! YUCK!

<3

I got a good one!

He may have cried the whole time, but he did it!

Sometimes I'm lucky enough to get snuggles!

<3 You can't ask for much more than this!

My sweet little Easter Bunny! <3
Milestones: He is speaking in some crazy sentences and making some amazing observations. After the gender reveal, he kept trying to buy the baby things at Walmart, and is constantly asking where the baby is. Potty training is in full swing, and it's awful and wonderful at the same time. He's really good at peeing. He will literally drop his pants anywhere and "make mud" if he has to go, but pooping is a completely different story.
Sleep: Spring break has been good (maybe) to us. He's going to bed later, but he's doing us a favor by sleeping in until at least 8 am. I can't complain about that. The last two days he hasn't been waking up in the middle of the night, but I don't know if that's because he's exhausted or because he's getting used to putting himself back if he wakes up.
Eating: He will eat the hell out of some scrambled eggs in the morning, and he eats all of his lunch at school, but dinner is still difficult.
Mood: I think this week he has had a cold, so he is not sleeping restfully, but BOY is he cranky and whiny!
Likes: He loves the idea of the baby, and keeps asking if he can buy the baby things. He loves to be outside and has insisted that we eat dinner on the back patio every night this week
Dislikes: It's the same as always: being told it's time to stop doing anything that he's doing. Being told he needs to stop doing what he's doing. Staying still for very long. Not getting his way immediately.

Things I want to remember: How excited he is to be a big brother, and how his eyes light up when he discovers something. How he says, "I got an idea!" and tears off around the house to go and do whatever he's decided he wants to do in that moment. Also, how he loves to snuggle in our bed from about 5 am onward.

Looking forward to: Whatever the next few months bring us. I'm also really, really looking forward to being on summer vacation and enjoying some time with my boys!

Baby #2 - 17 Weeks

How far along: 17 weeks last Wednesday!
Gender prediction: Lochlan keeps referencing "her" when he is asked/talks about the baby
Total weight gain/loss: +10 lbs. :-(
Maternity clothes: I gave in about a month ago in regards to work pants. I had pants with no buttons but the legs were too wide, and I just felt chunky.
Stretch marks: No, and they can stay away thank you very much!
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding rings on or off: On
Sleep: Lochlan is getting up at least once a night. Thank goodness most of the time he wants daddy! (Sorry, babe!) The nighttime pee sessions have started already...
Have you started to show yet: By the end of the day, definitely. I absolutely have a pudgy belly. :-(
Movement: Lochlan says "she's shake, shake, shaking!" :-D Sometimes I think I feel something, but it's still not definitive. I think I was 18 weeks before feeling bug move. So soon!
Best moment this week: Making it to the gym on Monday and not feeling horribly out of shape.
Worst moment this week: Realizing how overwhelmed I am with everything (grad school, trying to keep up with my home, child, and husband, work, etc.); it sucks!
Happy or Moody most of the time: This week I'm extremely easily aggravated, but our students have lost their minds and are ready for spring break already.
Food cravings: Tuna and pierogies...so weird!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really...I actually feel better most of the evening compared to the first trimester.
Miss anything: Actually having a desire to eat something other than just being starving!
Weekly Wisdom: STAY ACTIVE...more like GET BACK to being active! These love handles have got to go!
Looking forward to: Spring. Break. T-minus 5 school days!
