Stretch marks: I'm not going to look again...at least not this week.
Belly button in or out: It's just about an indent.
Wedding rings on or off: On
Sleep: I can't even begin to articulate how bad this has gotten.
Movement: Rolling like a champ!
Best moment the past week: Making progress on our new house. The inspection is complete, and we're waiting on the seller's response for our requests.
Worst moment the past week: Realizing I'm definitely not going to be employed at the beginning of the school year. But really, this past week has been going really well.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy.
Food cravings: Anything fizzy.
Anything making you queasy or sick: This heartburn is a BITCH!
Miss anything: Same as last week -- feeling like I can breathe after walking up stairs or for longer periods of time. I HATE feeling so out of shape.
Take 2 -- Inside with my little goofball
Weekly Wisdom: Part of this post from @mommysinsidevoice on Instagram. Look her up...she's hilarious!--
"There are going to be people that hear your title of "mother" & try to keep you stuck in an antiquated box. Full of pointless ideals that have nothing at all to do with your situation or individuality. Ideals that stifle women, stripping them of their happiness, hobbies & eccentricities..."

"Ladies... being a mother is monumental in our lives, no doubt. But it doesn't have to be our everything. We're allowed to continue on with WHO WE ARE. I may even go so far as to say that the world needs that from us. Individuality. Resilience. Sense of self, sense of purpose. Confidence.

Strong women. Strong female role models.

The world needs it, our kids need it & we need it. . .

More than a Mama.

Let it be a revolution of enlightenment for the ignorant, a rejection of judgement within our own communities & ultimately liberation for us. ."

Looking forward to: Meeting our new little guy!

Times--they are a-changin'!

Given Baby Cable #1's early arrival, I decided that it might be sensible to start weekly updates at 36 weeks just in case Baby #2 decides to follow suit.

So much has happened since last week...really, just one thing, but it feels like a mountain has moved. I'm not sure if it makes me less stressed, but it makes me feel like we're less in limbo than we were at the end of June. I still don't have a job, and I'm starting to really feel a bit anxious about it. I have a feeling that it has a lot to do with this little guy being due in four weeks, but that actually makes me more frustrated.

On Wednesday, we put in an offer on an awesome house in a great school district. We had already lost one really great house, so we weren't counting on getting this house, but we were both in love! Shockingly, our offer was accepted Thursday morning, and we're anxiously getting things in order for a late September close date.

While we love the inside of the home, and all of the modern amenities, it has two major drawbacks. 1 - it's about 10 feet off of a main road and 2 - it has a 50x125 lot :-( We were originally looking for at least a half an acre of property, so the second drawback is a bit of a buzz kill for us especially since Lochlan absolutely adores being outside. Thankfully, the seller is offering us a chunk of money to put in a privacy fence, so that helps with both the first and second issue. There is also a huge lot next door that is owned by a local church and the previous homeowner's children utilized, so I think we can try to make the best of the outdoor living situation with the fence for safety and the neighboring field/property for more room to play. As the hubs would say, "if it's our Pennsylvania starter home, it's one hell of a starter!" I took Mom and my best friend over yesterday to look at it, and thankfully, they both approve as well!

To give a bit more detail -- it is an old farmhouse built in 1922 that has been completely and totally redone! It's super open and full of old charm and character with the modern updates that are to die for! I think in our home search the hubs and I both realized that we were not really interested in a cookie cutter home that was in need of a face lift. Neither one of us has the handiness or time to redo a kitchen, etc. so I'm glad we're getting into something that has all of those things finished -- especially with a new baby on the way! I'll do an update solely focused on the house once we move in and get everything situated. For now, here's a picture of the front:

With all of this change, we still have been staying busy. With the hubs back to work, we've been trying to still do some fun things on the weekends as a family. This week, my sister just finished up her Air Force training to become a recruiter, so now that she's back, she and her wife came up for the weekend. We decided a zoo trip was in order, so we spent the whole day at the Pittsburgh zoo. Needless to say, I'm absolutely exhausted, but it was so much fun! We got to see a baby rhino, and there was even an animatronic dinosaur exhibit! The boys were in heaven!

Baby #2 Update

How far along: 36 weeks, 4 days
Gender: boy
Maternity clothes: and big shirts, and sports bras...
Stretch marks: I looked...and I found 2... 😡
Belly button in or out: It's barely hanging in there.
Wedding rings on or off: On
Sleep: My poor husband has to hate sleeping in the same bed as me. I don't remember being this restless with Bug, but I'm constantly struggling to find a comfortable way to sleep. I've tried a pillow between my legs; I've tried to just get up and pee; I've tried to sleep just on my side...nothing seems to work.
Movement: We've had a few quieter days this week, but he's still rolling and pushing a lot.
Best moment the past two weeks: Finding a house we both love!
Worst moment the past two weeks: Realizing that school starts next week and I'm still UNEMPLOYED. 😭
Happy or Moody most of the time: Emotional. Overwhelmed, but happy.
Food cravings: Nothing really.
Anything making you queasy or sick: This heartburn is OUT OF CONTROL sometimes!
Miss anything: Feeling fit. I can't walk up the steps without being out of breath. It's shameful. < SAME! The zoo was a very obvious reminder of my lack of fitness.
Weekly Wisdom: With all of this hate, bigotry, terror, and racism over the past twenty four hours, I can only hope to raise sons that are understanding, accepting, kind, and willing to do the right thing in the face of hatred. I'm heartbroken that I even have to consider or hope this for my children in today's world. I think President Obama's tweets yesterday (a Nelson Mandela quote) were perfect -- "No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion...People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love...For love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite,"
Looking forward to: Still hoping to find a new job, but at this point it may be unrealistic...and I'm getting really excited to meet this new little boy!

It's the FINAL Countdown!

I think every parent has the proverbial, "oh, shit!" moment when they realize they're in the final stretches of their child's incubation, and they realize they're going to have to care for and keep alive a squalling infant. I've had about five of those over the past two weeks along with moments of, "oh, shit...what have we done! I have nothing situated for this baby. No crib, no dresser, not even a room!"

Then I come to the realization that none of that matters save the fact that this kid exits close to term, healthy, and squalling. What matters is that Lochlan will be a big brother, and we will be a family of four. After that is a success, then I can begin panicking about making it all work in some chaotic way.

With that being said, HOLY SHIT, we are LITERALLY a month away from our due date. Now, mind you, Lochlan decided to make an early appearance at 36 weeks and 5 days, so we may be seeing an appearance of Baby Boy #2 sooner rather than later. But if you ask this Momma, he can stay in and bake up to September 6th or so!

How far along: 35 weeks, 4 days
Gender: boy
Maternity clothes: Yes, and damn you Target and Kohl's for coming out with new brands at the END of my pregnancy.
Stretch marks: None that I can see, and I'm not looking.
Belly button in or out: It's almost popped.
Wedding rings on or off: On
Sleep: Horrid. I toss and turn. I'm super restless. I can't get comfortable to save my life, and then Bug decides he's going to wake up at 2 am and attempt to get into bed with us. Nighttime is not a good time for the Cable family.
Movement: He's an active little booger, that's for sure. Rolling and pushing a lot. He'll give a few good kicks sometimes, but it's mostly just rolling and pushing.
Best moment the past two weeks: Enjoying time with the Bug while we wait for Baby #2.
Worst moment the past two weeks: Getting beaten out for what was absolutely the PERFECT home for us... :-(
Happy or Moody most of the time: So-so. Mostly happy, but still very overwhelmed.
Food cravings: Strawberries again.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Chewbacca. I'm going to birth Chewbacca.
Miss anything: Feeling fit. I can't walk up the steps without being out of breath. It's shameful.
Weekly Wisdom: I have nothing for this update. I'm all out of wisdom.
Looking forward to: Finding a new home. Finding a new job. Meeting this little boy and working on being a functional family of four.

And this little guy was such a goofball today. He just lit up the adventure of house hunting for us. I had to include this second take with him looking up at his little brother/me.
