Lochlan's First Halloween

"The farther we've gotten from the magic and mystery of our past, the more we've come to need Halloween."

I have always found myself mystified with witches, magick, the changing leaves, and the crisp fall breeze.  Since we moved to South Carolina, I have desperately missed the leaves and the cool weather that I'm so used to after spending most of my life in the North East.  The powers that be must have been a fan of me this week, because cooler weather rolled in to SC over the past few days!  Now, don't get me wrong, I only want weather in the mid 50s and low 60s for a few days before I'm totally okay with our normal high 60s, but you certainly don't feel like it's fall unless it's a bit crisp out there!

As a kid (until I was about 14), we always went to a very close family friend to Trick-or-Treat, so it was always my favorite fall event.  I love Halloween so much that when I got engaged, I was desperate to get married on Halloween.  That definitely didn't work out.  We moved to SC, and we're teachers.  A fall wedding was a no-go. :-(  After having Lochlan, I couldn't wait to prep for his first Halloween!  His Aunt Mimi and Uncle Michael bought him two cute onesies and his Great Mamaw and Mamaw brought down another 2 outfits a few weeks ago. Looking through his closet early this month, I was ecstatic to find that the little nugget would have an outfit for every. single. day.  I was definitely more excited than the hubs, but I think once we started putting on the outfits every morning, he was pleased with the results!

Thursday was a whole day of fun!  We had purchased a pumpkin to carve on Wednesday, but Lochlan decided that he was ready for bed at 6pm, so we had to wait until Thursday to have all of the fun!

I think he loves Halloween as much as his mommy!
We had no idea that it was glow in the dark until later that day.

All done!
So Halloween itself is always quite interesting here.  Many kids are driven around neighborhoods to get candy, and a small handful of kids don't even dress up but expect to get candy.  It's a whole different ball game than I'm used to, but we enjoy it either way.

Can you guess what Lochlan is?

Mike Wazowski!
Thanks again Aunt Mimi and Uncle Michael!

We can't wait until next year!
